Unquenchable spirit both entrepreneurial and athletic have been hallmarks in the life of Natalie Britt Lantz ‘93. In both commerce and on courts, she has demonstrated the ability to succeed.
While at SHS Natalie played basketball, volleyball and ran track, earning three letters in each. In her sophomore year the volleyball team made the state semi-finals. In her junior year the Lady Whippets basketball team advanced to the state final and compiled a 24-3 record. She received All Northern Ohio League first team and All-Ohio Honors.
After graduating she enrolled at Ohio University where she majored in visual communications, a launch pad for her business career. While at Ohio she excelled on the court, scoring 1,099 points while posting points per game averages of 9.6, 14.5 and 15.6. She led Ohio to a Mid-American Conference Championship and received All-MAC honors during both her junior and senior years.
Her business career began as a graphic designer at Carton Service. In 2002 she answered entrepreneurial spirit by starting Lantz Star Graphics and employing three designers. In 2017 she added a partner and formed Pivot Creative LLC that totals 9 staff members (7 of whom are Shelby alumni).
Natalie has been involved in the community, serving a term as president of the Shelby Rotary Club and two terms as board member of the Shelby YMCA and Richland County Chamber. Simultaneously she began fulfilling an urge to get back to basketball. Signing on with SHS as an independent employee, Natalie first coached freshman and junior varsity teams before taking over as varsity head coach. In 9 varsity seasons, her teams have won five conference championships 2013, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021 and compiled an overall win-loss record of 153-61.
